Spotlight on Apleona Ireland’s Robert Scully, our IT Support Analyst: Navigating Challenges and Driving Success
Amidst the hustle and bustle of the world of facility management, Robert Scully, Apleona Ireland’s IT Support Analyst, steals the spotlight, offering you a firsthand look into the dynamic responsibilities and vibrant company culture that encapsulate the Apleona Ireland experience.
With over a year and three months of dedicated service, Robert has been a crucial member of the team since August 2022.
Having earned a bachelor’s degree of Business and Information Technology just last year, Robert underwent a significant career transition, moving from a retail management background to his first IT role. He seized the opportunity that presented itself – a successful online interview with a manager in Scotland for the position. Today, he stands as a testament to the numerous possibilities Apleona offers.
Every morning, Robert faces the bustling M50 traffic during his commute from Clondalkin. From 8:30 am to 5:30 pm, Robert immerses himself in countless tasks. Emails, Teams messages, and tickets take priority as he manages multiple tasks spanning the UK, Ireland, and Northern Europe. The diverse workload ensures that no two days are alike, providing a stimulating and ever-changing environment.
When questioned about his sources of inspiration, Robert highlights his personal evolution as the driving force behind his work. His determination to transition from a retail management background to earning a degree in business and IT and securing a position as an IT analyst, underscores his dedication, consistently fuelling his motivation.
Robert describes Apleona’s company culture to be characterised by a vibrant and positive atmosphere, where a sense of personability prevails. Employees engage on a first-name basis, cultivating an environment that prioritises openness and collaboration.
Effective communication, active listening, troubleshooting, problem-solving, agility, and quick thinking on one’s feet are key attributes that Robert highlights as crucial qualities for success in the realm of IT support at Apleona. One of Robert’s proudest achievements to date has been being part of the team that facilitated the successful migration with the Acacia team.
Managing the transition of 200 accounts and 50 laptops in collaboration with central IT and a third-party company showcased his ability to navigate complex tasks with precision. He recalls the intricacies of managing expectations during a security system change. Educating individuals on the new system and the reason behind heightened security measures proved to be a key aspect of overcoming this hurdle.
For those just starting their journey with Apleona, Robert emphasises the importance of organisation, time management, and prioritisation. In the ever-evolving IT landscape, he encourages newcomers to embrace change and never hesitate to ask questions, reminding them that there’s no such thing as a silly question in the world of IT.
Robert Scully’s journey at Apleona as our IT Support Analyst is a demonstration of Apleona’s commitment to fostering a collaborative and dynamic environment, where each team member plays a crucial role in driving success. THANK YOU, ROBERT!
