Apleona Ireland’s Climate Action Plan

Leading the Way Towards Climate Action

As the world faces the urgent need to address climate change, we are recognising the importance of sustainability and taking meaningful actions towards reducing our carbon footprint.

Climate Action Plan

Our Sustainability Report serves as a roadmap for our company’s sustainability initiatives, and outlines the commitment to tackle climate change head-on. Here we highlight our dedication to aligning our business practices with those of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) – with a primary focus on SDG 13: Climate Action. By recognising the urgency of the climate crisis and pledging to become part of the solution, Apleona Ireland’s vision is our commitment to achieving NET ZERO CARBON EMISSION BY 2045. We understand that a systematic and holistic approach is required to reach this target and therefore, we have outlined a comprehensive strategy encompassing three key pillars

  1. Sustainable Facility Management
  2. Sustainable Procurement and Supply Chain Management
  3. Engaging Stakeholders and Employees

Sustainable Facility Management

We recognise the importance of optimizing resources efficiency through improved building management systems, the installation of energy-efficient equipment, waste reduction and the promotion of renewable energy sources. Additionally, we are actively encouraging our clients to adopt sustainable energy practices. Our aim is to deliver additional energy efficiency savings by implementing waste management strategies and recycling programs that promote a circular economy.

Sustainable Procurement and Supply Chain Management

Recognising the significance of supply chains in the overall carbon footprint, we place emphasis on sustainable procurement practices. We are committed to working with suppliers who share their sustainability missions and values. We strive to reduce our supply chain emissions, promote circular economy principles, and ensure that suppliers adhere to responsible sourcing and waste management practices.

Engaging Stakeholders and Employees

We acknowledge the importance of engaging stakeholders and employees in our sustainability journey. To educate and inspire our employees and clients to embrace sustainable practices, we are committed to actively collaborating with industry associates, local businesses, communities, and government bodies. Through these collaborations, we aim to share knowledge, exchange best practices, and drive collective action towards a net-zero carbon future.

In 2021, our carbon footprint decreased to 798 tonnes of carbon, representing a 22% reduction compared to the previous year. This reduction can be attributed to less travel in our diesel vehicles.

Looking Ahead

We remain committed to continuous improvement and recognise that addressing climate change requires ongoing dedication, innovation, and collaboration. We are constantly striving to set new sustainability targets, and regularly update our stakeholders and employees on our progress. Our Climate Action Plan serves as a testament to our company’s commitment and the efforts we are making to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2045. By prioritising sustainability and embracing the challenge of climate change, Apleona Ireland is paving the way for a greener, more resilient, low-carbon future.
