Mental Health Awareness Week 2026

Creating Workplaces That Support Wellbeing Every Day- Workplace Wellbeing Goes Beyond Awareness

Mental Health Awareness Week is an opportunity to reflect on how workplace environments influence not only performance, but overall wellbeing.

While conversations around mental health often focus on support services and awareness campaigns, workplace wellbeing is also shaped by the everyday experience people have at work: how spaces function, how teams interact, and whether environments feel safe, supportive and well managed.

The Role of Facilities Management

In facilities management, those details matter.

From lighting, air quality and maintenance standards to cleanliness, reliability and workplace experience, the operational environment has a direct impact on how people feel throughout the working day. A well-run workplace creates consistency, reduces unnecessary stress and allows people to focus on what they do best.

Supporting Wellbeing Through Culture & Connection

For us, supporting wellbeing goes beyond buildings alone. It is reflected in the culture we continue to build across our teams and the initiatives that encourage connection, inclusion and support throughout the year.

Whether through participation in community initiatives such as wellbeing-focused events, workplace engagement activities, or sustainability and biodiversity projects through GreenSpace, the focus is on creating environments where people feel connected and supported.

Mental wellbeing is also closely linked to workplace culture. Open communication, strong team relationships and creating opportunities for people to step away from day-to-day pressures all contribute to healthier working environments.

Small Actions, Long-Term Impact

Even small actions such as taking time to connect, recognising achievements, or creating more comfortable and positive spaces can have a meaningful impact over time. Support is also available internally through our trained Mental Health First Aiders, who are there to provide guidance, support and a listening ear whenever needed.

There is also growing recognition that sustainability and wellbeing are increasingly connected. Access to greener spaces, better building performance and more thoughtful workplace design can positively influence concentration, stress levels and overall employee experience.

Creating Better Workplace Experiences

Mental Health Awareness Week serves as an important reminder that wellbeing should not be treated as a once-off initiative. The strongest workplace cultures are built through consistency, everyday actions and environments that support people both physically and mentally.
